FAQs

  • A Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) is an advanced nutrition professional who has completed a graduate or doctoral degree in nutrition (or health related field) from an accredited university, accumulated 1,000 hours of supervised practice experience, and passed a rigorous certification exam administered by the Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists (BCNS). The CNS credential is the most widely recognized nutrition certification by both federal and state governments. It is also the only non-dietetics credential and examination commonly included in state nutrition licensure laws, making it a distinguished qualification for those seeking to practice evidence-based nutrition.
